Overview

The Aline KCPS-1500 Oil Water Separator provides reliable pre-treatment for wastewater containing free oil and suspended solids. Its coalescing plate system separates oil, water and settled material before the wastewater is discharged to sewer, making it well suited to workshops, wash bays, service facilities and industrial sites.

Highlights

  • Separates free oil and suspended solids from wastewater

  • Coalescing plate technology captures smaller oil droplets

  • Heavy solids settle into a dedicated sludge hopper

  • Chemical-resistant, UV-stabilised polyethylene construction

  • Galvanised support frame for freestanding installation

  • Separate outlets for treated water, collected oil and sludge

  • Suitable for indoor, outdoor and pumping-to-sewer installations

  • Manual or automatic oil removal options

  • Straightforward servicing with removable plate packs

  • Hazardous-area configurations available for suitable installations

KCPS-1500 Oil Water Separator 1500L Poly Tank System feature

Better Separation Before Wastewater Reaches the Sewer

Oily wastewater cannot normally be discharged without suitable pre-treatment. The KCPS-1500 separates free oil and suspended solids from the wastewater stream before it reaches the sewer connection.

This helps workshops and commercial facilities manage oily wastewater more effectively while providing a dedicated system for collecting separated oil and settled sludge.

Coalescing Plates Capture Smaller Oil Droplets

Wastewater enters the separator through the inlet chamber, where heavier solids settle and larger oil slugs rise to the surface.

The remaining wastewater then passes through a stack of closely spaced, corrugated polypropylene plates. These oleophilic plates attract and combine smaller oil droplets, helping them rise to the surface for collection. Fine solids are also progressively separated as the wastewater moves through the plate pack.

A downstream baffle or oil dam prevents the collected oil from passing into the treated-water outlet.

Separate Access for Oil, Water and Sludge

The KCPS-1500 includes dedicated connections for each part of the separation process.

Treated wastewater leaves through the 50mm sewer outlet, separated oil is directed through its own 50mm outlet, and settled material can be removed through the sludge hopper and integrated 50mm PVC ball valve.

Oil skimmers may be used for either manual or automatic oil removal, depending on the installation design.

Built for Demanding Commercial Environments

The separator is available with a polyethylene or stainless steel tank. The polyethylene version uses chemical-resistant, UV-stabilised material with a 5mm tank wall and 5mm lid.

A galvanised mild-steel support frame provides a stable freestanding structure, while UPVC inlet, outlet and drain connections offer good resistance to corrosion and wastewater exposure.

Straightforward Access and Maintenance

Under normal operating conditions, the main maintenance requirement is regular cleaning of the polypropylene plate packs with hot water.

The removable lid and quick-release fasteners provide access to the internal components, while the sludge drain and oil outlet allow collected material to be removed without dismantling the complete separator.

How It Works

Oily wastewater is introduced into the separator’s inlet chamber by a pump.

Heavy solids settle into the sludge hopper, while larger or concentrated oil slugs rise directly to the surface. The remaining oil-and-water mixture flows through the corrugated polypropylene plate pack.

As the wastewater passes between the plates, smaller oil droplets combine and rise to the surface. Fine solids progressively settle away from the treated water.

A baffle or oil dam prevents separated oil from entering the outlet weir. Treated wastewater then leaves through the sewer outlet, while oil and sludge are removed through their dedicated connections.

Installation Information

The KCPS-1500 may be incorporated into indoor, outdoor, pumping-to-sewer or hazardous-area wastewater systems.

Typical installations may include a diaphragm pump, float level switch, oil collection container, electrical conduit, suction pipe, discharge pipe and a separate collection or pump pit.

Each system should be selected and installed according to the site wastewater flow, oil loading, solids loading, discharge requirements and local authority conditions.

Important installation requirements include:

  • The installation should be bunded with enough capacity to contain the separator volume.

  • The bunded area should prevent rainwater from entering the system.

  • The separator and associated pit may be classified as a Class 1, Zone 2 hazardous area.

  • The hazardous area may extend 500mm above the separator.

  • Any float switch used in the system must be oil proof.

  • Typical arrangements show a discharge pit with a minimum 500-litre working volume.

  • Typical indoor arrangements show a minimum 2000mm separation distance.

  • Typical outdoor arrangements show a minimum 500mm separation distance.

  • Hazardous-area installations require suitable explosion-protected electrical equipment.

  • Final design and installation should be confirmed by the relevant hydraulic consultant, engineer, plumber and approving authority.
