Overview

The Aline KCPS-2000 Oil Water Separator is designed for larger commercial and industrial sites that need reliable separation of free oil, suspended solids and wastewater before discharge to sewer. Its coalescing plate system provides effective pre-treatment for busy workshops, wash bays, maintenance facilities and industrial wastewater systems where greater separation capacity is required.

Highlights

  • Separates free oil and suspended solids from wastewater

  • Larger 2000L model for higher-demand commercial applications

  • Coalescing plate technology captures smaller oil droplets

  • Heavy solids settle into a dedicated sludge hopper

  • Chemical-resistant, UV-stabilised polyethylene construction

  • Polyethylene or stainless steel tank options

  • Separate outlets for treated water, collected oil and sludge

  • Galvanised support frame for freestanding installation

  • Suitable for indoor, outdoor and pumping-to-sewer systems

  • Manual or automatic oil removal options

  • Removable plate packs for straightforward servicing

  • Hazardous-area configurations available for suitable sites

KCPS-2000 Oil Water Separator 2000L Poly Tank System feature set 1

Greater Capacity for Larger Wastewater Systems

The KCPS-2000 is suited to sites producing larger volumes of oily wastewater or requiring more separation capacity than smaller models can provide.

It gives workshops, industrial facilities and washdown areas a dedicated pre-treatment stage before wastewater reaches the sewer system, helping separate free oil and settled solids from the water stream.

Coalescing Plates Remove Smaller Oil Droplets

Wastewater enters the separator through the inlet chamber, where heavier solids begin settling into the sludge hopper and larger oil slugs rise to the surface.

The remaining oily water then passes through a stack of closely spaced, corrugated polypropylene plates. These oleophilic plates attract smaller oil droplets and bring them together into larger droplets that rise to the surface for collection.

Fine suspended solids are also progressively separated as the wastewater moves through the plate pack.

A downstream baffle or oil dam helps stop collected oil from entering the treated-water outlet.

Dedicated Oil, Water and Sludge Connections

The KCPS-2000 keeps the separated materials divided through dedicated discharge points.

Treated wastewater leaves through the 50mm water outlet, collected oil passes through a separate 50mm oil outlet, and settled sludge can be removed through the integrated 50mm UPVC hopper and PVC ball valve.

Oil skimmers can be added for manual or automatic oil removal, depending on the system design and site requirements.

Built for Industrial Wastewater Conditions

The separator is available with either a polyethylene or stainless steel tank.

The polyethylene construction uses chemical-resistant, UV-stabilised material with a 5mm tank wall and 5mm lid, making it suitable for demanding commercial and industrial environments.

A galvanised support frame provides a secure freestanding structure, while the UPVC inlet, outlet and sludge connections offer good resistance to corrosion and wastewater exposure.

Simple Access for Routine Servicing

Routine maintenance is kept practical through a removable lid and accessible internal plate packs.

Under normal operating conditions, the main maintenance requirement is cleaning the polypropylene plate packs with hot water. The dedicated oil outlet and sludge drain also make it easier to remove collected contaminants without taking apart the complete separator.

How It Works

Oily wastewater is introduced into the KCPS-2000 inlet chamber by a pump.

Heavy solids settle into the sludge hopper, while larger oil slugs rise directly to the surface. The remaining oil-and-water mixture then flows through the corrugated polypropylene plate pack.

As the wastewater moves between the plates, smaller oil droplets combine into larger droplets and rise to the surface. Fine solids progressively settle away from the treated water.

A downstream baffle or oil dam prevents collected oil from passing into the outlet weir.

Treated wastewater leaves through the water outlet, while separated oil and sludge are removed through their dedicated discharge connections.

Installation Information

The KCPS-2000 can form part of an indoor, outdoor, pumping-to-sewer or hazardous-area wastewater treatment system.

A typical installation may include a diaphragm pump, float level switch, oil collection container, suction pipework, discharge pipework, electrical conduit and a separate pump or collection pit.

The final system should be selected according to wastewater flow, oil loading, solids loading, required retention time, discharge conditions and local authority requirements.

Important installation considerations include:

  • The installation should be bunded with enough capacity to contain the separator volume.

  • The bund should prevent rainwater from entering the system.

  • The separator and associated pit may be classified as a Class 1, Zone 2 hazardous area.

  • The hazardous area may extend 500mm above the separator.

  • Any float switch used with the separator must be oil proof.

  • Typical pumping-to-sewer arrangements may require a separate discharge pit.

  • Electrical equipment used in a hazardous area must have a suitable explosion-protected rating.

  • Indoor and outdoor clearance requirements should be confirmed for the specific installation.

  • Final sizing and installation should be approved by the relevant hydraulic consultant, engineer, licensed plumber and local authority.
