Overview

The Kwikflo KGT2000 Grease Arrestor is a 2000L fibre-reinforced polymer grease trap that removes fats, oils, grease and suspended solids from commercial kitchen wastewater before discharge to sewer. At 2000L the range steps up from polyethylene to an FRP cylindrical tank with twin 600mm access manholes, suiting high-volume kitchens, food courts and multi-tenancy premises. Rated for above ground and below ground installation and supplied by Aline Pumps under the Kwikflo Grease Separator range.

Highlights

  • Removes fats, oils, grease and suspended solids from trade waste
  • 2000L fibre-reinforced polymer (FRP) tank, model KGT2000
  • Two 600mm round access manholes for pump-out and inspection
  • Suitable for both above ground and below ground installation
  • 100mm PVC inlet, outlet and vent connections
  • Cylindrical FRP construction suited to buried installation
  • Separate in-ground and above-ground support arrangements
  • 2600mm external length with a 1110mm internal diameter
  • Handles raw sewage, trade waste, effluent and stormwater
  • Kwikflo Grease Separator references KGS2000AG and KGS2000BG
  • Risers available on request

Kwikflo KGT2000 2000L Grease Arrestor features and specifications

Where the Range Moves to Fibreglass

The Kwikflo grease arrestors are polyethylene at 1000L and 1500L. From 2000L up they change to fibre-reinforced polymer in a cylindrical form, which handles the longer spans and the external loading of a buried tank better than a moulded poly box of the same volume.

For a busy kitchen, food court or multi-tenancy building, the 2000L unit gives the retention time and grease storage that smaller tanks cannot hold between scheduled pump-outs.

Twin Manholes for Full-Length Access

The KGT2000 has two 600mm round access manholes set 700mm in from each end of the tank.

Two openings let a liquid waste contractor reach both the inlet and outlet halves of the tank directly, which matters on a 2580mm internal length where a single central manhole would leave the far ends hard to clear properly.

Gravity Separation Through the Tank

Wastewater enters through the 100mm PVC inlet and slows as it spreads across the tank's cross-section.

Sludge and heavier solids settle to the base. Grease and fats rise and are held at the surface, below the working level. The treated liquid in between leaves through the 100mm PVC outlet to sewer. A 100mm PVC vent connection maintains airflow through the tank.

Above Ground or Below Ground Installation

The KGT2000 is rated for both. The manufacturer's drawing shows two support arrangements: an in-ground base of 500mm and an above-ground base of 870mm, with moulded feet along the tank.

Buried installations should be designed with the tank's cylindrical form and external loading in mind, and the access covers selected to match the traffic passing over them.

How It Works

Contaminated water arrives through the 100mm PVC inlet.

The flow slows across the tank's cross-section, allowing separation to take place under gravity.

Sludge and solids settle in the base of the unit.

Grease is trapped and floats to the surface, held below the working level.

Treated liquid is discharged from the grease arrestor to sewer through the 100mm PVC outlet.

Installation Information

The KGT2000 can be installed above ground or below ground. Inlet plumbing is to be installed by a licensed plumber, and risers are available on request.

Important installation considerations include:

  • The water level and outlet pipe must sit 150mm below the inlet.
  • Allow for the 2600mm external length and 1150mm width when planning the excavation or plant location.
  • Above-ground installations use the 870mm support base arrangement.
  • In-ground installations use the 500mm support base arrangement.
  • Both 600mm manholes must remain accessible for pump-out and inspection.
  • Access covers must be selected to match the traffic load passing over them.
  • The 100mm PVC vent connection must be carried through to atmosphere.
  • All drawing dimensions carry a 10mm tolerance unless otherwise stated.
  • Sizing, trade waste approval and pump-out frequency are set by the local water authority.
  • Final sizing and installation should be approved by the relevant hydraulic consultant, engineer, licensed plumber and local authority.
