When will it arrive, and what does freight cost?

Freight is included in the price shown. Orders placed before 1pm dispatch the same business day to VIC, NSW and QLD, with free express shipping Australia-wide. Delivery is kerbside with tailgate, so you will need someone on site to receive it and a way to move the unit into position.

Can I return it if I order the wrong one?

Returns are accepted within 30 days on unused stock in its original packaging. Contact us for a return authority before sending anything back. Returns or exchanges due to incorrect sizing without prior consultation are at the customer's expense.

Do I need a licensed plumber and electrician?

Yes. Plumbing connections must be made by a licensed plumber and the final electrical connection by a licensed electrician, to an RCD-protected circuit. Packaged units arrive pre-assembled, so both trades are on site for a fraction of the time a site-built system takes.

What is covered by warranty?

Manufacturer warranty applies to every product we supply, covering correctly installed units used within their rated duty. Warranty terms vary by brand and model.

Do you offer trade pricing or project quantities?

Yes. Trade accounts receive standing discount and priority dispatch. For developments and multi-unit sites we quote the whole schedule and stage deliveries to match your program.

Where it sits in the range

Specify fibreglass where there is water, salt or an electrical hazard. It is also the cheapest compliant nosing we stock.

Compliance

Stair nosings on a public or commercial stair are covered by AS 1428.1, which calls for a slip-resistant strip across the full width of every tread and a luminance contrast against the tread surface. The usual figure quoted is 30% contrast across a strip between 50 and 75 mm deep on the nose.

Contrast is measured between the insert and the tread it sits on, so the floor finish decides the insert colour. Send us the tread finish and we will tell you which insert clears it. Final sign-off is your access consultant or building surveyor, not us.

Installing it

Measure every tread individually. Stairs are rarely consistent, and a nosing cut to the wrong length by 5 mm looks wrong for the life of the building.

Tell us the lengths and we cut, drill and countersink to suit. You are not cutting aluminium on site.

Dry fit the full flight before you fix anything, and check the nose line is straight from the bottom of the flight looking up. That is the view people notice.

Drill the substrate using the supplied plugs as the gauge, then run a bead of adhesive along the back of the extrusion as well as screwing it. Screws hold it, adhesive stops the drumming.

Drive the screws flush. Over tightening will bow the extrusion and the nose line will show it.

Questions buyers ask

How many metres do I need?

Multiply the number of treads by the width of the stair. A 16 step flight at 1.2 m wide is 19.2 m. The calculator above does it, and we round each piece up to your actual tread length when we cut.

Do you cut it for me?

Yes. Send a tread schedule and every piece arrives cut, drilled and countersunk, labelled by step. There is no charge for cutting.

Which insert should I pick?

Carborundum for most stairs, heavy duty where traffic is relentless, ribbed where the stair gets mopped daily, corrugated where it needs to look good. The table above has the full picture.

Clear or black anodised?

Appearance only, both perform the same. Clear suits most concrete and timber, black suits dark stone and modern interiors. Black costs a little more because the anodising process does.

Does it come with screws?

Yes, screws and plugs are supplied with every metre. Use adhesive as well. Screws hold it down, adhesive stops it drumming underfoot.

Is it compliant on its own?

The product is manufactured to suit AS 1428.1. Whether your installation complies depends on the contrast against your actual tread and the strip depth, which your certifier signs off.

Can I get a sample?

Yes, ask and we will post a short offcut in the finish and insert you are considering so you can check the contrast against your real floor.

Dispatch

Cut to length orders are made to your schedule, normally 3 to 5 business days before dispatch. Stock lengths go sooner. Freight is calculated on length and weight, so the quote shows it separately.

Warranty

Backed against manufacturing defect in the extrusion, the anodising and the insert bond. Normal wear on the grit face is not a defect, it is the product working.

We ship with TNT Express, Border Express, and Star Track Express. Orders placed before 12 pm (noon) on weekdays are dispatched the same day. High-demand periods may cause slight delays. Once dispatched, you'll receive tracking details via email.

Order Shipment

If your order is in stock and we've processed the payment, it will ship within two business days from your order date. For freight, we partner with courier companies: Northline, COPE, TNT Express, Allied Express, or an available courier. You'll receive an email with tracking details once your order has been dispatched from our warehouse.

Please note: our delivery service is limited to ground-floor locations, known as Kerbside Delivery. Your order will be delivered to the nearest ground-floor access point at your address. For larger, bulky items (over 70 kg), delivery is through a tailgate via truck. Bulky items may need more than one person for handling, so please make sure there is an additional person on site.

Damages
