Submersible bore pumps for Australian bores

A submersible bore pump sits down the bore below the water line and pushes water up to your house, tank or troughs. Types of bore pumps we stock

3 inch and 4 inch submersible bore pumps

The workhorse for homes, small farms and stock water. A 4 inch 1 HP 240V package lifts to around 98 metres and moves up to 58 litres a minute, enough for a house and garden or a mob of cattle. The 3 inch models suit narrow casings, with the 0.75 HP T-22 reaching about 70 metres. Every package is stainless steel and continuous duty rated.

6 inch high flow bore pumps

For irrigation and big stock operations. The 6 inch 10 HP and 15 HP 415V pumps are built for volume: the 10 HP DS-09 moves up to 417 litres a minute and reaches 138 metres of head. They need a 6 inch or wider casing and three phase power.

Deep well jet pumps and well pumps

For shallower bores and wells where the pump sits above ground. The REEFE RSWE145 deep well jet pump reaches 66 metres of head at up to 80 litres a minute, and comes with a pressure controller or a pressure tank, switch and gauge so the house gets steady pressure.

How to choose the right bore pump

• Casing size: a 4 inch pump needs a 4 inch or larger bore casing. Narrow bores need a 3 inch pump.
• Total head: add the pumping water level, the height up to your tank or house, pipe friction, and 10 metres for every bar of pressure you want at the tap. Choose a pump that gives your flow at that head, not just at its maximum.
• Flow: a house uses roughly 20 to 40 litres a minute at peak. Stock water is worked out per head per day, then spread over the hours the pump runs.
• Power: 240V single phase covers pumps up to about 3 HP. Bigger pumps need 415V three phase.

How deep can a submersible bore pump go?

Most of our 3 and 4 inch packages reach around 70 to 100 metres of head, and the 6 inch 415V pumps go past 130 metres. The usable depth is always lower than the maximum head once you add the lift above ground and pipe friction.

Do I need 240V or 415V for a bore pump?

Bore pumps up to about 3 HP run on 240V single phase, which covers most houses and small farms. Larger irrigation pumps, such as our 5.5 to 15 HP models, need 415V three phase power.

How much does a bore pump cost in Australia?
